Bodegas Coviñas

History

The Coviñas group started its operations in Requena in 1965, when the most important “bodegas” in the area joined forces to create a distillery.

In 1967, a neighbouring winery was acquired and the Vino de la Reina was produced; this was the first bottled quality wine from the area that is now officially designated “Utiel-Requena”.

In 1978-1979, the partners decided to build a bottling plant.

In 1985, the Vino de la Reina was renamed Enterizo, and has gone on to become the Group’s flagship brand.

In 1994, Coviñas decided to start exporting to Europe with its Monte Mayor range. This was the start of a period of expansion and growth.

In 2003, Coviñas moved out of distilling and opened a large ageing facility able to accommodate 11,000 barrels.

In 2007, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food  awarded Coviñas the top prize for Food Quality” in recognition of its business activity and work on improving quality.

Nowadays, we keep on improving our premises and are currently building a new conference room and a new warehouse.
